CodersLink vs enterprise outsourcing (Softtek, Globant, Wizeline, EPAM): size the partner to the team

In a nutshell

Softtek has been running nearshore delivery from Monterrey since before most of our clients existed. Globant is listed on the NYSE. EPAM and Wizeline run studios that ship for global brands. None of that is in dispute. The question is a narrower one: if your engineering org is between 50 and 1,000 people, is a programme vendor the right shape for you?

What is the difference between outsourcing and staff augmentation?

Enterprise outsourcing sells delivery: a statement of work, a delivery manager, a team the vendor owns, governance and SLAs, priced as a programme. Staff augmentation sells capacity: named engineers who report into your managers, work in your repos and ceremonies, priced per engineer per month. One owns the outcome; the other extends your team.

Both are legitimate. The mistake is buying one when you need the other. A 200-engineer transformation across four countries needs a vendor with a PMO, a bench, certifications and the balance sheet to carry a fixed-price commitment. A Series B product team that needs eight senior engineers in its own standups by next quarter needs none of that overhead and pays for it anyway if it buys a programme.

Softtek, Globant, Wizeline and EPAM at their published scale

The scale figures below are each vendor's own, read on 5 September 2026. Softtek states 16,000 global experts across 20-plus countries. Globant reported 28,510 employees at 31 March 2026 in investor filings. Nortal, which absorbed Nearsure, states 2,700-plus people and ten LATAM hubs. EPAM's LATAM headcount comes from its own press releases.

Softtek "16,000 global experts"; 20+ countries; founded 1982 in Monterrey; states that it created the Near Shore model (its claim) Managed services, outcome-based programmes, nearshore delivery centres Does not publish any of the four softtek.com
Globant 28,510 employees at 31 March 2026 (investor filing); 30+ countries; headcount distributed across India, Colombia, Argentina and other markets per investor data Studios and programme delivery under SOW Does not publish any of the four investors.globant.com
Wizeline Founded 2014, Guadalajara and San Francisco; "Studios: nearshore dedicated innovation houses"; "Agentic Pods"; AWS AI competency; clients named on site Dedicated studios and pods delivering to a brief Does not publish any of the four wizeline.ai
EPAM LATAM headcount "over 3,000" after the 2024 Vates acquisition; Colombia via S4N; Mexico presence stated in earlier releases (company press releases) Global engineering and consulting programmes Does not publish any of the four EPAM press release
Nortal (ex-Nearsure) "2,700+"; "10 talent hubs across Latin America"; 30 offices; "88% client retention (US only)" Nearshore teams and programmes Does not publish price, speed or guarantee nortal.com
CodersLink Eleven years in Mexico; 1,050+ engineers placed; 150+ companies; a community of 45,000 engineers in Mexico, of whom roughly 300 hold the Top 1% Standard at any one time Embedded capacity: Staff Augmentation, MESHubs (build-operate-transfer), Nearshore RPO Three vetted profiles in five business days (three to five for a standard role, five to ten for a specialised one, ten to fifteen for a scarce profile); no trial, unlimited free replacements on Staff Aug; starting rates published compare hub

Notice the last column. Programme vendors do not publish speed, trials, guarantees or prices, because a statement of work is negotiated rather than listed. It does mean that a growth-stage buyer cannot self-qualify from their websites, which is one of the reasons this series exists.

What a programme vendor gives you that CodersLink does not

Governance, procurement compatibility, formal certifications, multi-region delivery, 24/7 managed services under SLA, fixed-price outcome contracts and audited scale. These are real advantages for an enterprise buyer, and we hold none of the certifications they hold. If your RFP requires CMMI, ISO or a SOC report, we are not your vendor and we will say so on the first call.

  • Governance and PMO. A steering committee, a delivery manager, change control. Necessary at 200 engineers; overhead at eight.
  • Certifications. Softtek is reported to hold CMMI Level 5 and publishes an ENS certification; the others carry their own. CodersLink makes no SOC 2, ISO or DPA claims.
  • Outcome pricing. Softtek publishes outcome-based managed-services cases, such as a stated 30% reduction in operating costs through IT managed services. That is a programme promise; we sell capacity rather than outcomes.
  • Breadth. Twenty to thirty countries, dozens of studios, follow-the-sun support. We cover one country, deliberately.

What a 50–1,000-person engineering org needs

Four things, in our experience: a named team your managers run directly, a rate per engineer in writing, a selection standard you can audit, and a path to owning the team outright if it works. None of those require a PMO. All of them are easier when the partner is sized to you and led by engineers rather than by an account executive with a quota.

On the first: in Staff Augmentation you direct the work and the team keeps your identity; the engineer's contract is with CodersLink in Mexico, and the classification decision is ours to carry. On the second: starting rates are published: from $6,500 per engineer per month for a mid-level engineer, $7,500 for a senior and $10,500 for staff-plus, all-in, on Staff Augmentation; MESHubs runs on a markup as low as 12%, with 15% standard from ten FTEs, plus a transfer fee when the team moves onto your entity. Your exact rate depends on seniority, stack, volume and term, and it is in writing before you start. We never take a cut of the engineer's pay. On the third: every engineer is selected against the Top 1% Standard, benchmarked to Silicon Valley, with three vetted profiles in five business days (three to five for a standard role, five to ten for a specialised one, ten to fifteen for a scarce profile). On the fourth: MESHubs is build-operate-transfer by design, for teams of 15 to 100-plus, on a twelve-month minimum.

Where the vendor's headcount sits

Ask, because "nearshore" on a homepage can describe a small share of a global bench. Globant's investor filings show headcount distributed across India, Colombia and Argentina alongside other markets; EPAM's LATAM count is a few thousand of a much larger global total. Neither is a criticism; the question is which time zone your engineers will be in at 10 a.m. Central.

Every CodersLink engineer is in Mexico: 7 to 8 hours of daily overlap with US business hours, no daylight-saving shift since 2022, and a 2 to 4 hour flight from Texas or California. Geography is the guarantee; there is no filter to configure.

Replacing an offshore programme with an embedded team

NetProtect replaced an offshore operation in Asia with a Guadalajara engineering team that grew from 6 to 40 people over 18 months and was then transferred onto the client's own payroll. Q2 integrated 57 technology professionals in under nine months and reports a 35% increase in roadmap velocity. Both were run as capacity rather than as programmes.

Those are the two ends of the growth-stage band: a team that starts at six and becomes a division you own, and a team that lands at scale inside your existing engineering org. Neither client needed a statement of work to get there; both needed a partner whose overhead matched their size.

Pick enterprise outsourcing when

  • You are procuring a multi-year, multi-country transformation with a 200-engineer statement of work.
  • Your RFP requires CMMI, ISO or SOC documentation and a PMO.
  • You want the vendor to own delivery and the outcome, under SLA, 24/7.
  • Procurement rather than engineering leadership is driving the decision.

Pick CodersLink when

  • You are a growth-stage product team and their coordination overhead is too heavy for your size.
  • You want a named team your managers run, with a rate per engineer in writing.
  • You want every engineer in one US-overlapping time zone, guaranteed by geography.
  • You intend to own the Mexico team eventually: MESHubs gives you the transfer path.

If you are already evaluating one of the Mexico-rooted vendors specifically, we have written the head-to-head pages: CodersLink vs Softtek and CodersLink vs Wizeline. For the wider category, the compare hub lays out all five operating models side by side.

Compensation is the other place where size matters. A programme vendor prices a blended rate; you rarely see the individual. The Mexico Tech Salaries Report 2026, built from 10,246 verified respondents across 36 roles and 32 states, lets you check any per-engineer rate against what the market pays in Mexico.
