01 — Why Mexico
Decide whether Mexico belongs in your plan.
Mexico's advantage is operational leverage, not the lowest hourly rate. A buyer optimising purely for labor cost would rank Vietnam and India higher, and we would rather say so than argue a point we would lose. The three arguments below are the ones that survive scrutiny, and each rests on something you can check: a time zone, a compensation survey of 10,246 verified respondents, and engagements that are already running.
Seven to eight business hours of synchronous overlap with US Eastern business hours, year-round, on a 0–2 hour offset from US Central and Mountain. Design reviews, incident calls and planning happen live rather than in handoffs. Austin to Monterrey is one hour twenty nonstop, so being in the same room is a morning, not a trip.
Engineers at C2 English earn 2.08x those at B1, and the gap holds within every seniority band tested. That is a compensation structure shaped by a market where a significant share of demand comes from US-headquartered companies hiring for English-first communication. It also means the English requirement belongs in the requisition rather than in a late screening step, because it moves a band further than seniority does in several role families.
Q2 integrated 57 technology professionals in under nine months and reports compensation 40–50% below equivalent US salaries — roughly USD 600K over the initial nine months — alongside a 35% increase in product roadmap velocity. NetProtect grew a Guadalajara team from six people to forty and then moved it onto its own payroll. Pinterest built a 22-engineer team in twelve months. Each is a published case study, agreed with the client.
Pure hourly rate is not the argument, and a procurement exercise scored on rate alone will not land here. Nor is Mexico a market where Staff and Principal engineers are abundant — they exist, and the bands on this page show what they cost, but the search for them is a search, not a requisition you can fill from a pipeline. Teams that arrive expecting either of those things are the ones that leave. The organisations that do well here are the ones buying the same working day and a career ladder that already exists — and are willing to pay a market rate for them.
If that is the trade you want to make, the rest of this page prices it: who you can hire, what the market pays them, and what an engagement starts from.
02 — Market structure
Find the talent your next stage requires.
Whether you need a specialist or are planning a larger team, the starting point is the experience your business needs. Explore Mexico's engineering market and the talent pool CodersLink works with.
The two halves belong together: the first is reach, the second is the bar. Between them sits the instrument — a compensation survey of 10,246 verified respondents across 36 roles and 32 states, which is what makes every band on this page checkable rather than asserted.
INEGI, Estadísticas a propósito de las personas formadas en las ciencias de la computación y las TIC, comunicado 509/22, from the ENOE labour survey, second quarter of 2022, population aged 20 and over. The figure counts people trained in the field — a wider group than those working in it today, and a 2022 floor rather than a current count.
These two figures answer different questions and are not additive: one is the reach of the pool we work with, the other is how many people in the country trained in the field. Neither is a count of engineers available today, and we do not publish one, because no official source measures it.
03 — Proximity
Work through decisions in the same working day.
Design reviews, planning sessions, and technical discussions are easier to coordinate when your teams are online together. Seven to eight business hours of US-timezone overlap give Mexico-based engineers room to collaborate with your US team throughout much of the day.
Mexico has observed no daylight saving time since 2022, while the United States still moves twice a year — which is precisely what makes the offset shift by an hour. The seven-to-eight-hour range is that variation, stated rather than smoothed into a single number.

Proximity gets you a working day. It does not tell you whether the talent is there, which is the question that decides the build. Three sections carry that weight, and each one names its source: City ecosystems narrows where to build; Senior talent depth answers the objection that Staff-level engineers do not exist here in volume, with the bands the market pays them; and Cost & compensation shows the one variable that moves a band further than seniority does.
